Calvin (CR Smith)
Calvin (CR Smith) is a DJ and record collector born and based in Norwich. He has played regularly across the city over the past five years, as well as further afield in France and Spain, sharing his eclectic record collection with diverse audiences in settings ranging from bars and clubs to festivals and weddings.
Having featured as a guest on several radio shows as well as hosting his own show on LWSTD.fm, Calvin is driven by a passion for uncovering and sharing music that has often been overlooked or underappreciated. You can expect to hear anything from deep disco and silky soul to rare reggae and global grooves, always guided by mood and flow rather than genre boundaries.
He is also the founder of Distant Waves, launched in 2021 as a YouTube channel dedicated to digitising and sharing music from his collection that had yet to be documented online. Since then, Distant Waves has evolved into an online record store offering a curated selection of pre-owned vinyl, seeking to capture the personal and human touch of a traditional record shop.
